The City of Elkhart has implemented targeted access management strategies along Cassopolis Street between County Road 6 and Emerson Drive to address safety concerns and reduce traffic collisions. In response to a high number of crashes in this corridor, medians were installed to limit unsafe turning movements and improve traffic flow. The State Road 19 Access Management and Toll Road Project in Elkhart, Indiana includes a range of enhancements aimed at improving both transportation efficiency and the visual appeal of the corridor. A key component of the project is the transformation of the gateway at Exit 92 of the Indiana Toll Road, which sees over 10 million vehicles annually. This area was upgraded with high-quality landscaping, modern signage, pedestrian-friendly sidewalks, and a small linear park designed to welcome travelers and hotel guests. The construction was led by Premium Concrete Services, a locally owned company known for delivering durable and aesthetically refined infrastructure.
